Universal Supplies and Services, Inc. (US&S) was established in 2003, by then retired Naval Commander Richard Hagins. His goal was to offer to churches design concepts, architectural drawings, civil structural, site design and construction. In 2006, the company's areas of interest were redefined to include environmental services, general construction, general maintenance and procurement of supplies and equipment. US&S has grown to a three-division company providing facility services, procurement as well as construction contracting. US&S holds a general contractors license.
His continued success and growth of US&S was highlighted with the Greenville Chamber of Commerce recognizing the business as its Minority Business of the Year for 2006. Mr. Hagins was appointed by the Governor of South Carolina as a Commissioner of Minority Affairs for the State of South Carolina. Additionally, he is on the Board of Trustees for the Blood Connection and has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the South Carolina State Ports Authority. This year, the company added a new focus, which involves pursuing government contracts that will involve active partnerships with local businesses.
US&S is classified as Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business) (SDVOSB) and Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council (CMSDC) Minority Business Enterprise (MBE).
