Center for Veterans Enterprise Verifies and Certifies US&S, Inc. as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business August 16, 2013

Greenville, SC - US&S, Inc. (US&S) is pleased to announce that the company has received its certification from the Center for Veteran Enterprise (CVE), on behalf of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). This verification makes US&S now eligible to participate in the Veterans First Contracting Program with the VA. US&S has strong past performance with the VA, successfully executing millions of contract dollars performing at multiple locations, including contracts at the Asheville, NC VA Hospital and the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, GA. 

US&S, founded in 2003 by then retired Naval Commander Richard Hagins, is in its 10th successful year of business in the upstate of South Carolina. The company has grown to $21 million in annual revenue, employs over 85 people, and services both federal and commercial clients across the southeastern United States. Today, the company has grown to a three-unit company providing facilities support, construction, and staff augmentation services.

US&S is also classified as a Small Business Administration 8(a), Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) through the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and Minority Business Enterprise (DBE) through the Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council (CMSDC).

U.S. Department of Energy Approves US&S, Inc. as Official Protege of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC May 1, 2013

Greenville, SC - On May 1, 2013, US&S received formal approval of its Mentor-Protege Agreement between Savannah River Nuclear Solutions under DOE Contract Number DE-AC09-088SR22470 effective through April 2013.

The goal of the Department of Energy's Mentor-Protégé Program is to provide an opportunity for eligible small businesses to receive developmental assistance in business and technical areas. The Program is designed to improve capabilities to perform contracts and subcontracts for the Department and other Federal agencies. The Department utilizes the Mentor-Protégé Program to increase the participation of small businesses as prime contractors, as well as subcontractors to prime contractors. Department prime contractors, as mentors, enter into agreements with eligible protégé firms to provide developmental assistance to enhance the business and technical capabilities of the protégé firms and to promote and foster long-term business relationships.

US&S, Inc. Celebrates 10 Years in Business February 14, 2013

Greenville, SC - US&S, Inc. (US&S) is celebrating its first decade in business founded in 2003, by then retired Naval Commander Richard Hagins, the company has grown to $21 million in annual revenue, employ over 85 people, and service both federal and institutional clients across the southeastern United States. Today, the company has grown to a three-unit company providing facilities support, construction, and staff augmentation services.

"Given that over half of companies fail in their first year of business and even greater percentages fail within their first five years, the fact that we are celebrating a decade in business as a minority owned and operated company is a phenomenal accomplishment," says Mr. Hagins. "Ten years in, we still operate like an entrepreneurial start-up company. US&S remains extremely lean and agile we are growing steadily, performing better and having a lot of fun."

Hagins' continued success and growth of US&S was highlighted with the Greenville Chamber of Commerce recognizing the business as its Minority Business of the Year for 2006, in an article in Greenville Business Magazine.  In 2012, the company was recognized as an Outstanding Small Business by Lockheed Martin and Hagins was honored as the South Carolina nominee for the National Minority Entrepreneurship Award by the Small Business Administration.

US&S will celebrate its 10th anniversary during a drop-in by invitation to be held at their corporate office on 50 Grand Avenue, Greenville, South Carolina, on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, from 4:30 p.m. 7:30 p.m.  US&S is grateful to its clients, partners and employees for the success experienced over the years.
